A Poet from Al-Samawah Technical Institute Writes His Name in the Museum of Modern Chinese Literature
In a literary and cultural achievement added to the record of Iraqi youth creativity, student Zain al-Abidin al-Murshidi from Al-Samawah Technical Institute, part of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, participated in the International Youth Poetry Festival held in the cities of Beijing and Guangzhou in the People’s Republic of China. The festival saw the participation of poets and creative figures representing 13 Arab and foreign countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Lebanon, and Syria.
Al-Murshidi’s participation was marked by a distinguished literary presence, as his poems were displayed among the exhibits of the Museum of Modern Chinese Literature in the capital, Beijing—a step reflecting the growing presence of Iraqi literature in international cultural forums.
It was also officially announced that his poetry collection, titled The Shepherd’s Child, has been added to the museum’s holdings. In addition, a special display was dedicated to his poem “The Bird’s Peck” in his own handwriting and with his personal signature, ensuring it remains a testament to a young Iraqi poetic experience in one of China’s most prominent literary institutions.
In a statement to the Media Department of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Al-Murshidi expressed his joy at this achievement, saying
“It is a great happiness that my poems will, after me, continue to breathe the beautiful air of Beijing’s museums.”
It is worth noting that the festival was organized by the Chinese Writers’ Association, with the participation of a select group of young poets from around the world, as part of efforts to enhance cultural and literary exchange among nations.
