Under the patronage and presence of Professor Dr. Sabah Mohammed Al-Mutawqi, Dean of the Al-Samawa Technical Institute at the Middle Euphrates Technical University, the institute organized today, Sunday, June 14, 2026, a memorial vigil in remembrance of the souls of the martyrs of the Speicher massacre, on the twelfth anniversary of this painful tragedy that shook the conscience of Iraqis and drew international condemnation for the heinous crime committed against the sons of the nation.

The vigil was attended by a number of institute staff and students, where a minute of silence was observed, and Surah Al-Fatiha was recited in mercy for the souls of the noble martyrs. This reaffirms the importance of remembering their sacrifices and drawing lessons from the values of sacrifice and redemption they embodied in defense of Iraq and its people.

During the occasion, the Dean affirmed that the memory of the Speicher martyrs will remain alive in the national memory as a symbol of patience, steadfastness, and sacrifice. He stressed the necessity of reinforcing the values of national unity and social awareness to preserve the nation’s security and stability.

This vigil comes as a tribute to the pure blood of the martyrs and a commemoration of their eternal heroic stances, affirming that their sacrifices will remain a beacon for future generations in the meanings of loyalty, belonging, and love for the homeland.

Mercy and immortality to our noble martyrs, and glory to their eternal sacrifices.
