About the Library
The library of the Technical Institute – Najaf was established in 1989. The institute’s presidency has given great attention to the library, and in 2023, under the supervision of Dr. Sabah Al-Matouki, the library was renovated, furnished, and equipped with computers and printers.
Vision
For the library to occupy a distinguished position among scientific institutions at the level of Iraqi universities, a position worthy of the high standing of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University.
Mission
Keep pace with scientific developments in all fields for the scientific and research benefit of affiliates, researchers, and students across the university, the institute, and the wider community.

Encourage students to read and develop their inclinations toward reading as a genuine habit.
Develop students’ ability to rely on themselves and conduct scientific research from multiple sources.
Break down barriers between human knowledge and integrate disciplines.
Build a good citizen by instilling honesty, cooperation, and respect for regulations.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Issuing borrowing ID cards for affiliates and students.
- Cataloging and classifying books using the Dewey decimal system.
- Follow up on loans, renewals, and notifying borrowers.
- Annual inventory of books and appraisal of donated materials.
- Receiving students daily from 8:00 AM until the end of official working hours in the reading hall.
- Collaborating with department heads to purchase new resources.
- Supervising the annual student registration committee.
- Preparing periodic statistics required by the university.
- Loaning more than 50 books daily to affiliates and researchers.
- Organizing exhibitions of scientific departments’ outputs and the annual book fair.

Opening Hours & Borrowing Policies
- Daily continuous working hours from 8:00 AM until the end of official working hours.
- Loan renewal twice according to scientific need.
- Official follow-up for delayed borrowers through the Dean’s office.
- Special borrowing ID for each affiliate or student.
- Special register for borrowing and return dates.
