📋 About the Department
The Community Health Department at Al-Samawah Technical Institute is a technical health department aiming to prepare specialized cadres in promoting public health and disease prevention within the community. The department focuses on studying preventive health concepts, epidemiology, health nutrition, and health education, in addition to practical training in health centers and hospitals. Students are qualified to implement health programs, monitor epidemiological cases, spread health awareness among community members, and contribute to improving the level of health services. The department also enables its graduates to work in health centers, hospitals, and various health departments within primary health care teams.
🎯 Vision, Mission & Objectives
The department aims to graduate technical cadres working in the fields of (occupational health and safety, health inspection and control) and assisting in the implementation of primary health care programs and health awareness campaigns, and assisting the physician in diagnostic procedures within programs implemented in health centers.
A leading technical institute in research and teaching, enabling its students to obtain job opportunities through positive integration into the local labor market, thereby contributing to the sustainable development process in Iraq.
Goal: Prepare qualified health technical cadres at educational levels to serve our health institutions with the best modern technologies.
- Spread medical education to all segments of society.
- Create advanced technical cadres working in the fields of occupational health and safety, health inspection and control, assisting in the implementation of primary health care programs and health awareness campaigns, and assisting the physician in diagnosing disease conditions.

🔬 Department Laboratories
Objective: Introduce students to microorganisms and their role in health and disease.
Practical Content: Study bacteria, fungi, and viruses using microscopes, perform sterilization tests and sample culturing.
Benefit: Develops students’ skills in laboratory diagnosis and understanding infectious diseases.
Objective: Train students on basic nursing and primary health care skills.
Practical Content: Practical application on measuring vital signs, administering injections, wound care, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Benefit: Prepares students to provide primary health care and handle emergency situations.
Objective: Teach students the basics of medical and analytical chemistry.
Practical Content: Preparation of solutions, chemical tests on blood and urine, study of biochemical reactions.
Benefit: Connects chemistry with medical sciences and qualifies students to understand laboratory analyses.
