


About the Unit
The Sustainable Development Unit is a specialized division responsible for implementing sustainable development strategies within the institute, balancing economic growth, environmental protection, and social justice in line with the UN 2030 Agenda.
The unit works to embed sustainability concepts into academic and administrative activities, foster community partnerships, and rationalize the use of natural and human resources to ensure a better future for generations to come.
Vision & Mission
Vision: To become a leader in achieving sustainable development as an integral institutional culture, positioning the institute as a model for sustainability at local and regional levels.
Mission: Raising awareness, building capacities, and developing environmental and economic policies to ensure resource sustainability and achieve the 17 global goals in partnership with civil society and the private sector.

Responsibilities & Duties
- Implement SDGs: Translate the 17 global goals into institutional plans and strategies.
- Resource efficiency: Effective management of financial and natural resources (water, energy) and promotion of renewables.
- Community responsibility: Organize awareness workshops and campaigns on sustainable development for local communities in Muthanna province.
- Periodic reporting: Prepare annual sustainability indicators reports and submit them to relevant authorities.
- Green digital transformation: Encourage environmentally friendly digital initiatives and reduce carbon footprint.
- Staff training: Enhance employee skills in sustainability and circular economy.

A comprehensive roadmap for a better, more sustainable future that tackles global challenges: poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, while ensuring prosperity, peace and justice. It consists of 17 interlinked goals that complement each other to secure well-being for present and future generations.
