The Mechanical Department is one of the main technological departments, and the department is moving towards expanding the base of technical education and its modern applications to be a leader in providing technical services based on the spirit of competition and cooperation with the community.
Mission:
• The Mechanical Department adopts a general mission based on the framework of technical education in Iraq, a mission that it seeks to achieve every year to highlight the face of excellence of the department. The general objectives are centered on the graduation of national technical cadres at a level of education and training capable of absorbing technology systems and supporting the process of technical development to keep pace with rapid global technical developments.
– The special mission includes the following: –
1. Utilizing computer and internet technologies in education and training.
2. Activating the relationship with the private sector in the fields of training.
3. Follow up the development of training plan curricula and modernization of laboratories and workshops.
4. Interacting with the labor market and the needs of the community in rehabilitation and training.
Objective
The Production Branch aims to prepare technical cadres that are a link between the specialist and the skilled worker. The department prepares and prepares the graduate and provides him with theoretical, applied and practical information to be able to carry out the work entrusted to him.

1- Working on various metal cutting machines (lathe, milling machine, etc.).
2- The ability to distribute production processes to the operating elements and prepare the technological path from the production units to achieve the best method of performance.
3- Working in technological departments in factories and contributing to the preparation of operating cards, whether for workshops or machines and by operating elements.
4- Carrying out the work related to quality control and quality control.
5- Participation and implementation of emergency and periodic maintenance of machinery and machines that fall within his jurisdiction.

Department laboratories
- Description:
- The laboratory specializes in conducting mechanical tests as well as thermal coefficients of metals by conducting experiments for the students of the department / second stage
- Objective : The metallurgical laboratory plays a key role in enabling the students of the Department of Mechanical Technology to gain cognitive understanding and experimental information in the field of mechanical testing and microscopy according to the type of each material, and this laboratory is used in a series of experiments that serve the theoretical courses of the subject.
A brief overview: The laboratory specializes in performing dimensional measurements of products using various measuring devices.
Objective: Enabling the students of the first stage of the Mechanical Technology Department to gain sufficient experience and skill in how to measure dimensions.
Teaching students how to perform the process of filing, sawing and punching
The Advanced Manufacturing Processes Laboratory aims to teach and train students on some theories and manufacturing methods for different engineering materials and the impact of the parameters of each manufacturing method on the quality and efficiency of manufacturing. The laboratory equipment can also be used in graduation projects and scientific research, and the laboratory contains a number of devices including a partition device, horizontal milling machine, electric arc welding machine device, turning machine device, molding device, casting furnace and computer-programmed turning machine. The laboratory contributes to the process of linking what the student studied in the first and second stage through the tests conducted on the worked samples, such as tensile and hardness testing and detecting the microstructure of the samples and others.
Description: In this lab, students study mechanics to obtain the resultant forces, moments, center of gravity of geometric objects, moment of inertia of objects, tension and compression of metals, and find the coefficient of friction of objects.

1- The student obtains a high standard level of basic scientific knowledge in the field of measurement laboratory
2- Building scientific expertise according to a teaching methodology that opens the horizons of creativity and development in their field of specialization
3- Motivating students to innovate and familiarize themselves with the methods of scientific application
