The Department of Building and Construction seeks to achieve the needs of the Iraqi society and the region with a technical intermediate cadre in the specialty of building and construction through high-quality programs in education, scientific research and community service by providing the best educational opportunities to graduate distinguished students and able to keep abreast of the latest scientific developments in accordance with comprehensive quality standards and help students develop their abilities and refine their scientific and technical skills to enable them to enter and succeed in the labor market to continue learning and development in their chosen jobs, as well as provide a good learning environment that drives workers in the department to more giving and productivity.
Objective:
The technical and educational objectives of the building and construction department in the technical college / Samawah هـــــــي :-

Department laboratories
Introduce the student to concrete and its components, the properties of soft and hardened concrete, concrete mix design, durability, durability and shrinkage properties, etc.
Recognizing the physical properties of soil as well as the mechanical properties of soil as well as recognizing the properties of asphalt material (tar) in addition to the experiments of the surveying laboratory such as (measuring ratios, measuring horizontal and vertical angles, raising maps, projecting maps, longitudinal and transverse sections of roads, measuring areas for land and facilities, finding volumes for earthworks) by using devices (leveling, theodolite, integrated station, GPS) and their accessories (leveling, theodolite, integrated station, GPS).
The laboratory includes a number of devices and tools for testing fine and coarse aggregates, asphalt materials and asphalt concrete mixtures, and conducts laboratory experiments for preliminary studies, receives aggregate and asphalt models and designs asphalt mixtures
Briefly: The laboratory specializes in training students to conduct all structural tests in the field of construction and construction, soil investigations, road tests and building evaluation, and also receives researchers.
Objective: The Structural Materials Laboratory aims to ensure that the student is able to conduct laboratory tests of soil and structural materials of all kinds. And within the internationally approved specifications and recognize the devices used in the examination of structural materials.
