In accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the Institute, Prof. Sabah Muhammad Al-Matouki, the Media and Public Relations Division, in cooperation with the Legal Management and Continuing Education Techniques Department at Al-Samawah Technical Institute at Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, organized an awareness seminar titled “Illegal Immigration.” The seminar was attended by a number of institute members and students.
The seminar addressed several topics, highlighting the causes and motives of illegal immigration, its illegality, and its practice outside the regulatory standards of the sending or receiving state. The resulting migration results in loss, exposure to abuse and extortion, and easy targets.
The seminar aimed to familiarize participants with illegal immigration, the risks it entails, and its illegality. It also called for action to curb it, given the risks it entails and the legal accountability it places illegal immigrants under at the hands of states.
