As part of its awareness efforts aimed at protecting youth and enhancing community awareness, Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, represented by the Technical Institute of Samawah, held an awareness workshop entitled “The Dangers of Drugs on Society and How to Prevent Them.” This was conducted under the guidance of Professor Dr. Sabah Muhammad Al-Mutawgi, Dean of the Technical Institute of Samawah, in collaboration between the Division of Media and Government Communication and the Directorate for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances in Muthanna Governorate. The workshop took place in the Continuing Education Hall and was attended by a number of institute students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop included a lecture delivered by Mr. Ali Hamid Al-Dhalimi, Head of the Division of Media and Government Communication, which addressed the health, psychological, and social risks resulting from drug abuse, as well as the negative effects that impact the individual, family, and society, in addition to the security and developmental challenges posed by this phenomenon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop also highlighted the importance of establishing a culture of prevention and enhancing community awareness by activating the role of the family, educational institutions, government agencies, and civil society organizations in confronting this scourge and limiting its spread, especially among the youth demographic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop aimed to identify the causes and factors leading to drug abuse, explain the means of prevention and reduction of their spread, as well as enhance social responsibility among students and encourage them to actively contribute to building a more aware and safer society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants emphasized the importance of continuing awareness and educational activities that contribute to raising the level of awareness about the dangers of drugs. They called for intensifying joint efforts among various institutions to confront this phenomenon and protect youth from its negative effects, thereby contributing to the enhancement of community security and stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
