About the Department:
The Department of Medical Laboratories was established in the academic year 2020-2021 for morning studies, and evening studies were established in the department in the academic year 2023-2024, as it is concerned with graduating intermediate cadres specialized in the field of pathological analysis to work in government and private laboratories. The department contains laboratories equipped with modern devices that keep pace with development.
Vision:
Providing graduates with knowledge and experience in the fields of work in medical laboratories, whether government or private, which include isolating and diagnosing various clinical samples and preparing tissue slides, as the graduate has scientific and practical qualifications and skills and has a positive impact on serving the community and developing the health laboratory sector.
Mission:
Achieving excellence in acquiring scientific skills and implementing specialized educational, training and research programs in the field of medical laboratories, as the department seeks to graduate specialized health cadres working in health and research institutions to enhance the high capacity in diagnosing various diseases and developing health services to serve the community.
Objectives:
The department aims to graduate technical cadres capable of working in medical laboratories and conducting routine laboratory analyses, general chemical tests, fluid testing, and operating and maintaining laboratory equipment.
Graduate job description
Performs laboratory work related to isolating, staining, and examining germs present in clinical samples.
Prepares and sterilizes all agricultural media and examines food for food contaminants.
Performs all blood analyses and examinations.
Performs urine and excretory examinations and various body fluids (knee fluid, spinal fluid, sputum, semen).
Prepares tissue slides for various body organs and prepares them for examination
Prepares all laboratory solutions.
Operates and maintains medical laboratory equipment used in pathological analysis laboratories.

Vision of the laboratory:-
The laboratory is one of the basic laboratories in the Department of Pathological Analysis, which is an important foundation in the scientific background of the department’s students. Therefore, the laboratory aims to spread awareness and knowledge in medical fields by providing the country with students who are able to deal with laboratory materials and devices and to be familiar with the importance of their danger and how to deal with them and conduct medical tests.
Objectives of the course
General:- At the end of the year, the student will be able to make microscopic slides from different parts of the body.
Special:- At the end of the year, the student will be able to:-
Make microscopic slides from body fluids.
Prepare all solutions used during work.
Preserve and fix clinical models.
Medical museum technology.

Special:- At the end of the academic year, the student will be able to:
Use and clean glassware and laboratory devices.
Be able to deal with various chemical materials.
Prepare various solutions and measure their concentration.
Understand the chemical composition of the human body and the characteristics of the reactions of each of its components.
Know the fate of its nutritional components inside the body.
Diagnose some vital components in the human body using chemical and laboratory methods.

General:- Knowing the general anatomy of the human body from the macroscopic (systems and organs) and microscopic (tissues) aspects, with a focus on tissue structures.
Special:- The department aims to graduate a specialized staff capable of:-
Determining the nature, structure and location of each organ of the body so that the graduate gains the required skill when taking samples from different body organs.
Distinguishing between the different normal tissues of the body and knowing the microscopic structural details of them to be a basis that serves the student when studying abnormal tissues in cases of diseases and the changes that accompany them in the tissue nature.
